Take a moment and answer these questions:
- Have you noticed people of all ages and in all stages of life who are kind of “freaked-out” lately?
- Does noticing this negativity have an impact on your mind and your heart?
- Are you finding it harder some days to stay focused on the upside of life (vs. the downside of life)?
- What part of your life – either personal or professional – is suffering because of the emotional strain of others’ negativity?
- In dollars and sense, what do you think fretting, freaking out, and frowning is costing your organization and your family?

Imagine a personal workshop where you…
- work 1:1 with Dr. Meggin McIntosh every week for a year;
- have a written record of the structures and mind frames that the two of you talked about;
- can listen to a recording of each week's workshop - as many times as you like;
- are able to retrieve your written and recorded material anytime and anywhere that you need it;
- get invited to special events to support your quest to be staying positive (in a freaked-out world);
- and more!

Announcing the Staying Positive Society where you will have access to the Staying Positive Personal Workshop Program with Meggin. Here are some statements people have made recently:
From the very first session, I started being more reflective and each week just supported that change. My horizons have been broadened and my load has been lifted. Thank you! Michele H. (Nevada)
Joanie L. of Mississippi said,
“I love the Staying Positive Society because it lets me know that I am normal – and then it gives me so much encouragement and new ideas. My membership has made a HUGE difference for me over this past year. I am doing all kinds of different things now. Thank you!”

What is a "Personal Workshop"?
You have attended workshops in the past where you signed up and then showed up at a particular place on a particular day. This can work great for many people.
But, what if you would like your own workshop taught by Meggin when YOU are ready for it - and you do not have to go to a particular place on a particular day. You can have your workshop delivered right to you (and you don't even have to get dressed up). This works much better for your busy life.
The value of the Personal Workshop includes:
- You set the time of week to access your Personal Workshop.
- You set the time of day to take part in your Personal Workshop.
- You wear whatever you want (Meggin can't see you).
- If you want to spend more time on a topic, you can do that because it's YOUR Personal Workshop.
- When you want to listen to the Personal Workshop, you can.
- When you prefer to read the Personal Workshop, you can.
- If you want to review a topic later, you can do that because you have access to all of the materials that Meggin has created for you.

Meggin says,
"When I was still a professor, I would teach my students about the concept of schema by likening it to Velcro®. I even created a set of Velcro® and foam paddles (to use with a Velcro® ball) to further demonstrate the concept. I always knew that the students "got" the concept of schema, regardless of whether they were college freshmen or graduate students. Schema can be defined as:
your internal representation of the world. It’s the way that you have mentally codified your life’s learning and it provides a mental lens to explain events, mediate perceptions, and guide responses. Your schema can be revised as you assimilate new knowledge and experiences.
So why does this matter to you when you're a member of the Staying Positive Society? Because you can depend on me to design your weekly Personal Workshops so that there is a connection between the new information, the alternative ways of thinking, the different means of looking at what is happening and your own schema, that is your own internal representation of the world. I'm a teacher and am mindfully creating your Staying Positive Personal Workshop Program so that you experience value and volition by taking part."
The Staying Positive Personal Workshop Program Sessions are designed to activate and build upon your schema in such a way that you can clearly note your progress and development.

Optimists think the glass is half full. Pessimists think it’s half empty. Realists know that if they stay around long enough they’re going to have to wash the glass. In art, realists paint life with blemishes, wrinkles, and scars. Idealists paint a subject as they imagine it could or should be. On the road of life, both are important. Ideals give us direction. Realism gives us traction.
~Mart De Haan
“Meggin, you provide honesty as opposed to “voice in the box” piety or know-it-all status. You admit your own struggles and lead by example, as well as offering your ideas. I listen every week to get a boost – and let me tell you, I DO!” Beverly D. (W. Virginia)

Why the "Staying Positive" project was started...
From my experience, life is fabulous and there is so much to be grateful for. And yet, it’s been a little bit of a 'freak-out time' here at the end of the first decade of this new century.
Based on MANY interactions, including conversations, emails, interviews, discussions, and reflections over the past year, I know that it is not unusual to find people who are normally positive and upbeat but who are, instead, feeling nervous, wary, negative, and 'freaked-out.' So if this is true for the usually optimistic, then we can be sure that it has been a really rough time for those who waver back and forth between positive and negative on a regular basis.
Note of gratitude: Special thanks to all the members of the SPIAFOW R & D team. This group of nearly 200 folks blessed me with answers to questions, responses to inquiries, and with suggestions for directions to go, topics to present, and thoughts to share. The Staying Positive Society experience will be better for everyone because of the R & D team members' help with the project.
